Film Commissioner, City of San Antonio
As the Film Commissioner for San Antonio, Texas, Krystal Jones leads all San Antonio Film Office activities to further develop the local film industry as well as promote the city for what it is: a film-friendly destination with a wide-range of diverse locations, no film permit fees for city owned properties, and an average temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Under her supervision, the San Antonio Film Office manages a 7.5% local film rebate program, issues film permits for more than 250 city owned properties, assists with location scouting, provides grants for San Antonio-based filmmakers, and much more. In her four months on the job, the Film Office secured two San Antonio episodes on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior’s ninth season, secured San Antonio’s mention in MovieMaker magazine as a top film-friendly city, and developed a formulized funding program for local film festivals.
Previous to her role at San Antonio’s Film Office, Krystal created and implemented marketing and public relations initiatives for the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau as a senior brand manager. In that time, she spearheaded the production of ABC’s “The Bachelorette” in San Antonio and worked closely with many travel-related shows on networks including the Travel Channel, NBC, CNN, and PBS. She served as a spokesperson for the CVB appearing on TV and radio to promote travel to San Antonio.
Krystal honed her marketing, public relations and management skills in the agency and corporate sectors, with much of that experience in the technology industry. She also earned her masters from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and has received multiple awards from the Public Relations Society of America for her marketing and public relations work.
