Debra Bergman
Head of Physical Production, Freemantle Media
With a background in independent film and studio production, Debra Grieco Bergman is a member of the DGA, IFP and PGA. Debra has worked with experienced and emerging filmmakers and is extremely efficient in the production planning and support to all projects, which accents her passion of storytelling thru moving pictures.
Her first involvement in entertainment was as a production accountant, working on a variety of studio level and independent productions including: Still Breathing, Reservoir Dogs, and The Edge. She was recruited by Amblin Entertainment to join Steven Spielberg’s in-house production accounting team, spearheading such feature films as Schindler’s List, Jurassic Park and We’re Back.
With a passion for nurturing new talent and supporting director and producers’ visions, she co-produced such award winning films as: Nicole Holofcener’s Lovely and Amazing and line produced The Assassination of Richard Nixon starring Sean Penn.
In 2006, with a vast knowledge in hands on production and understanding the political landscape of movie making, Debra was recruited back into the studio system, appointed as the Vice President of Production Adminstration (Physical Production) for Sony Pictures. She spent eight years overseeing such projects such as: Captain Phillips, Rachel Getting Married, The Social Network, and the last 3 installements of Spiderman franchise among others.
After leaving Sony, she was hired as Head of Production for scripted projects at Xbox Entertainment Studios (XES). There, she oversaw feature film and TV series adaptions of the best selling game Halo. While at XES
she interfaced with Microsoft, proposing a variety of cross-functional convergience points between the markets.
